Okay, so, our entire family has a little virus or something?? Stuffy noses, scratchy throats kinda thing. I'm the worst sick person in the world! Maybe because I'm never sick...I don't know, but I'm a whimp! Just to prove how old I let medication get ( which I know is not good for you ) ...Brian did find some Geltabs for me (because I will NOT drink anything!) they expired in 10/97. I think they are working though because I took them about 15 minutes ago and can hold my head up by myself!
Enough about sickness...many people MUCH worse off than I...so I'll suck it up. The main reason I wanted to start this blog was so that I would write things down! Important things that I should be writing in journal but am lousy at. There's something I like about typing anyway. It makes me feel like I haven't forgotten something since becoming a mom. So here are a few things I remember about the week:
1) We celebrated St. Nicholas' Day on Thursday (for all of you who AREN'T Catholic...google it...it's a great Saint.) Anyway, last night Connor and I were saying a little prayer and I can't remember exactly how it went but something like this:
Mommy: "We should say thank you to St. Nicholas who is in Heaven with Jesus for showing us how to be so kind and generous, etc..."
Connor: "Mommy, if St. Nicholas is in Heaven with Jesus how did he make it to our house last night to leave my Blendy Pens and Jake's traintracks????"
Mommy: "Hmmmm, well, I think for one day out of the year, he gets to ride his white horse down to Earth and spread kindness and generosity again?????"
Connor: "Oh, okay."
Oops on my part! But it was satisfying to him. All the questions we are just starting to be asked...wow, I think I need to start carrying a miniature dictionary in the car and purse with me at all times.
One other of my favorites this week went something like this: We've been talking a lot about miracles lately and I guess I truly have never explained exactly what a miracle is...I just assume he knows...anyway,
Driving in the car home from school...
Connor: "Mommy, WHAT exactly is a miracle any way?"
Mommy: "Well, it's something so wonderful and extraordinary that you would think would never be able to happen." (It's the best I could do spur of the moment without my dictionary!)
Connor: "Kinda like me learning to ride a bike without training wheels?"
Mommy: "Well, yea, I guess??"
Kids are so funny. Frustrating at times but their minds are ALWAYS working.
Another favorite of mine this week is Jake will run to you and say, "Best Friend Mommy!" and give a great big hug. He goes down our whole family and never tires of it.
Well, I'm off to bed...yes, it's 8:51 on a Friday night and my entire family is already asleep and has been for about 45 minutes. So, I'm hoping this expired Gel Tab does it's work.
I'm going to try and post a favorite pic ---because I can!
Good night
